about

Hi there. Currently, I work as Policy Manager for Creative Commons. I help coordinate CC’s public policy positions in collaboration with staff, an international affiliate network, and broad community of copyright experts. I educate policymakers at all levels and across various disciplines such as education, data, science, culture, and government about copyright licensing, the public domain, and the adoption of open policies. Before CC I was Assistant Director to the Program on Public Access to Information for the American Library Association Office for Information Technology Policy in Washington, D.C. I worked on policy research and education around technology issues affecting the changing nature of libraries and library service, especially copyright and telecommunications policy.

I went to school at the University of Michigan’s School of Information and focus on technology, law and policy. I was a member of the first class to complete the Information Policy specialization at the School of Information. At Michigan I was research investigator for the Open.Michigan Open Educational Resource initiative and has helped develop a student-centric OCW publishing pilot there.

I studied sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and also helped establish Underground Food Colective, a farm-to-table food collective and catering business that supports local farmers, sustainable agriculture and community food issues.
